My Padlet Wall

Here is the link to a Padlet wall I made, about a project we are doing in class, called College Road Trip. We are researching information about colleges, and finding out more about them. We have recently been taking quizzes to find out more about ourselves, and what college might be best for us. If you’ve never heard of Padlet, it is a website where you can create a “wall” to put information on, about anything you want. I hope you will check out my Padlet wall and let me know what you think! You can comment directly on a post in the Padlet wall. It will be updated as I add more information, so check back!

100 WC Week #21

“Don’t worry, we’ll win the medal!” Sarah said to her partner, Grace. They were walking from their bus to their cross-country skiing race. “I hope so”, Grace said.  “I still cannot believe we’re at the Olympics! I’ve been waiting for this my whole life!” It was a very sunny day, which, Sarah thought, could effect the visibility as they skied. But, she was confident, despite the circumstances, that they would win. As they approached the starting line, they saw their competitors; gold medalists from Norway and Austria. “We can do it!” Sarah said to Grace. “We’ll just have to do our best skiing!”

100 WC Week #19

Linda was very nervous for her race. She was a skier in the Olympics, and this was her chance to win a gold medal for Team USA! The time came for the race, and she lined up at the starting line with her opponent from Austria. The buzzer sounded, and they were off! It was very nerve-wracking, for everyone there. One second Linda was ahead, and the next her opponent took the lead! After a real nail bitter, the finish line came into view. As she crossed, Linda could hear the announcer proclaim “And the winner is….. Linda Johnson! Team USA wins gold!”

My Trip to Disney World!

Walt Disney World!

Two weeks ago today I was busy in Disney World! so I didn’t get the chance to do the 100 World Challenge (Week #17) for that week. But I had a great time there!

Me and my Mom, cousins, Aunt, and Uncle started driving down to Florida two Saturdays ago. We didn’t get there until Sunday, which we spent looking around our resort hotel. We stayed at the All Star Movies hotel, which was great!

On Monday we spent the day in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. I went to Disney for the first time in 2019, and knew that I didn’t like the ride Avatar; Flight of Passage. But, I liked the beautiful Na’vi River Cruse in Pandora Land. I also liked seeing all the animals on the safari. The picture to the left is of the iconic Tree of Life in Animal Kingdom!

On Tuesday we went to Disney’s Magic Kingdom! Cinderella’s Castle was decorated beautifully for Disney’s 50th Anniversary (pictured on right, at nighttime). I loved the breakfast I had there; a waffle with hazelnut spread, and strawberries, blueberries, and bananas on top! I also loved riding Big Thunder Mountain for the first time, and so did the rest of my family. We also loved riding Pirates of the Caribbean again. In the afternoon we had the classic dole whip, but mine was flavored to taste like a cream sickle! Overall I loved my day in Magic Kingdom!

Wednesday was a rest day, and me and my cousins worked on homework, as it was still a school week. We also swam at the pool at our hotel, and went to Disney Springs in the evening.

Hollywood Studios day was my favorite! That was on Thursday. I loved the new Star Wars; Galaxy’s Edge land. We rode two rides there; Smugglers Run and Rise of Resistance, both of which were a Star Wars fans’ dreams come true! I also got to try blue milk, which was surprisingly very good! We also made droids in Star Wars land! In Toy Story land, we loved Slinky Dog Dash and rode it three times! A great day in Hollywood Studios!

Our last day was at Epcot. My favorite rides there were Soar’n, and the Frozen Ever After ride. I also liked the new Ratatouille ride, though it made me a bit motion sick. I also got to ride Spaceship Earth, which is going to be refurbished soon. We had a good day at Epcot, but we were all tired.

We drove home Saturday and Sunday, and I have loved my trip! I can’t wait to go again! Have you ever been to Disney World?

The Key That Unlocks

Why am I so confused?

The answer should be easy,

but it’s not.

Should I leave my home

because of the freezing cold,

or stay and bear it?

Look at this key on the ground!

Just dropped by someone!

I have always heard how

keys can unlock doors.

Maybe I need to open one door

and close another.

What’s behind this door

in the garden?

The key unlocks it.

The flowers are dying,

because of the cold.

I need to stay and help

the flowers and more.

I can fulfill my dream here

I don’t need to leave.

100 WC Week #16

“Ninety degrees! On New Year’s Day!?” John was standing on his porch on January first. His thermometer read “90 degrees Fahrenheit”. This was the hottest New Year’s Day on record in Kentucky. “It’s not like last year”, he thought. “It snowed last year” His wife, who was inside, said, “This surely will be the hottest day of the year! And it’s only the first!” Throughout the week, it didn’t get any colder. Finally, three weeks later, the first frost came. “I bet climate change played a key part in this warming,” John said afterwards. “If we don’t do something, this warming will change our lives, and not for good.”

My Visions for 2022

This is my vision board that I made for 2022.

If you don’t know what a vision board is, it is a used as a “vision” for something. It uses pictures and text to show your goals in life. In my case, I made my board for the new year.

In 2022, I want to use my telescope, get good grades, learn new music, talk to people more, try new things in Disney World (I am leaving this Saturday!), and start my Christmas presents early. I also included an inspirational quote, to inspire me to achieve my goals.

One Wish….

If I had one wish, I would wish for healing for the whole world. So many people are hurting, and I hate that they have to go through pain. My grandma has knee problems, and I wish she never had to go through this. She is the best grandma I could ask for, and I wish she could be healed. Other people go through cancer, or problems like that. This happens to good people, who don’t deserve it. If I had my wish, the world would be free of all sickness, and this would hopefully bring more peace to it.

100WC Week #11- The Problem with Transportation

Transportation helps us to get around, but it is harming our planet. Cars, planes, and taxis  use gas, which pollutes the atmosphere. Boats use it too, which pollute the oceans. Rockets cause even more pollution, by burning more energy. Bicycles are used for shorter distances, but are more environmentally friendly, not producing any harmful emissions. So, when we travel long distances, we produce more emissions. Maybe if we only travel for important reasons; for a job or visiting family, and we don’t travel the distance all at one time, we can travel and keep Earth clean.

All About My Awesome Middle School

The school that I go to is called McDowell Middle School, in Circleville, Ohio, USA.  It is part of the Logan Elm School District.

Daily Schedule: Every school day, Monday through Friday, I wake up at about 5:30 am to get on a school bus at 7:18 am. The bus transports me to school, and it has done this ever since I started going there. I get to school at about 7:45 am, and classes don’t start until 7:55 am, so the students have to wait outside until the bell rings. We have 7 periods during the day, and a different teacher for each.

My first period class is Social Studies, where we learn about history, and the world around us. Then I have Math as my second period, and English Language Arts as my third. After that, my fourth period is split up into lunch, and Academic Enrichment, or A.E., but instead of A.E., I have band. Each is 30 minutes, whereas most other periods are about 55 minutes. My fifth period is Science, and my sixth is Guided Study, where I get to work on homework. My last period is Art, and school ends at 2:32 pm.

School Set-up: Our school district, Logan Elm, is broken up into three elementary schools, one Intermediate School, a Middle School, and a High School. Our elementary schools are Laurelville, (where I went, and pictured on the right) Washington, and Pickaway. All of the students from each elementary school meet up at Salt Creek, our Intermediate School, which includes 5th and 6th graders. Now, I am in 7th grade, at the Middle School, which also includes 8th graders.

We are getting a new building, (pictured left) which will hopefully be finished by the time I’m in high school. It will include all the grades altogether in one building.

Extra-Curricular Activities:  Our school’s sports and activities include American football, volleyball, track and field, basketball, golf, cheerleading, cross-country, and baseball. You can also choose to participate in band, or color guard. In band, you learn how to play an instrument, and can be in concert band, and/or marching band. In color guard, you get to do routines with flags that go along with what the band is playing. I am in the concert band, and I play saxophone.

Pictured here is our middle school band at the Pumpkin Show, held in Circleville yearly. We got to march in the show.

So that is all about my school. My favorite subjects, or classes, are Math, Science, English, Social Studies, Art and band, so, mostly all of them!
